Zenfolio Upload Size

Okay I am shooting in raw and trying to maintain the best IQ possible within my abilities.  I am using both LR and PS to retouch the photos as necessary and I at present have a Zenfolio business relationship that I would like to upload to.  I would similar to upload the highest quality possible since I am shooting with the D850, still Zen limits u.s.a. to 65mb.

My question is what format .jpg or .tif etc are people uploading to Zenfolio, also what is the best way to decrease the file size without losing quality.  Who knows I may get lucky and sell something.  I am going to assume that the images are exported, but are they resized besides.  I guess I need a how to get your big file size image of bubba from LR to Zenfolio....lmao

I have searched all over and cannot find the respond that I need.

They have an option -

  • Archive raw files at 8.5 cents / GB / month

Other than that, sticking under the file size limit shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The supported photo formats are - JPEG, TIFF, GIF, PNG

TIFF are stupid large so I'd say but stick with JPG and resize (xxxx pixels widest side) to whatsoever fits if you're files are going over 65mb.

If y'all're "selling something" wouldn't you be selling prints?  There is quite a bit of word on resolutions for press saying across xxxxxx resolution in that location is no perceptible difference.  I've only glanced and am not expert on this - in that location are a lot of people with propellers on their hats fighting it out though!

Howdy,

I upload JPEG.  Equally a previous poster replied, Zenfolio simply displays a MAX of 1550x####, then unless you are selling prints or using the site as a backup there is no demand to upload whatsoever larger.

Each prototype is going to take a different size based on content.  When creating the files if they are continually larger then 65MB then could subtract the quality, to 95% or 90% etc or  if 10 being the largest, keep ticking downwards a notch ( 9,8,seven ) until files fit under 65MB.

I have a 5DS (50MP) and when I upload at Full resolution I might go a few over 65MB.

I just resize those until I striking 65MB.

However, since I do not sell images online - I accept been simply uploading the 3264x#### px for faster upload and viewing speed.  On my 5K monitor, one time I get an paradigm to 3264 it's hard to see a difference with larger size.

They as well wait awesome (3264x####) displayed on my Apple 4K TV with homesharing.

Hope this helps.

unless you are selling prints or using the site every bit a backup there is no need to upload whatever larger.

You lot missed ane main reason for total size uploads - client delivery/download galleries.

Information technology stands to reason that a proofing site should be able to handle all the volume for full resolution downloads likewise - if that fits your goals.

In this respect ZF is falling backside the pace if they don't increase regular file size treatment for the new mainstream 61mp Total Frame cameras coming - with many more chasing no incertitude.

Re: Zenfolio Upload Size

thank you for the responses, I did upload a few as .jpgs and used Jeffrey Friedls consign plugin that you can limit the filesize to 64mb with, the only problem is that I am not sure how it is limiting those mbs.  I would think that if it is reducing quality and then re-sizing would be a better option.

Steep learning curve .....lol

For these reasons, I also have a smugmug business relationship. My images wait so much improve viewed on smugmug compared to zenfolio. Upload size in smugmug is much larger.

I believe "The size limitations per photo are 150 megabytes and 210 megapixels"

So, lately for any new client I set up a folder in Smugmug and send them there.  Looks and so much better.
